I'm always on the hunt for good, statement-making jewelry, and while I tend to like to spend less on trendy, of-the-moment pieces (think Forever 21), I'm not above making a sizable investment on something that's so cool, it'll never go out of style. Thank goodness that I had the foresight to click on the jewelry link at J. Crew (who knew they even sold jewelry at the preppy-chic outpost?). Their opulent, vintage-inspired jewelry has bold color stories, fabulously over-the-top glamour, and just the right amount of tongue-in-chic kitsch to suit my funky tastes. It's a bit on the pricey side, but that's to be expected for pieces dripping in colorful gemstones, exquisitely detailed cabochons, and gleaming gold.
Lucky for us frugalistas, eBay sellers are hip to J. Crew's cool jewels, too, and they're offering new wares for significantly less coin. My most recent search yielded this Stone Mosaic Cuff Bracelet (originally $150, $100 on eBay) in a turquoise and coral color scheme no longer offered on the website. And the beach-chic Sea Foam Treasures bracelet (originally $125, $50 on eBay) costs a whole lot less at auction than it does from the store.
Just a note: All the eBay finds you see here could be there one minute and gone the next. When you're cruising eBay and want to find the latest offerings from J. Crew, simply search "J. Crew" in the Jewelry & Watches section. Also, lots of the eBay choices offer "Buy it Now" prices. You patient accessories mavens could potentially score for far less… if you're willing to place a bid and keep track of it.
