Forget about calling out your friend’s hair for being “on fleek” or dubbing the party you’re at as being “chill AF,” your list of highly intelligent, complex, and deeply meaningful millennial terminology needs to include this new phrase: “she doesn’t have the range.”

Explain. So basically, this new phrase went viral on Twitter when user @KingBeyonceStan started a rant about our favorite, and least favorite, artists in the music industry, using the phrase “she doesn’t have the range” to judge the artist’s ranking among mainstream music. Still confused… Basically, @KingBeyonceStan recycled the phrase from an old sketch from Little Britain that parodied Tom Jones and Shirley Bassey, and used it to critique artists and musicians that we love today.

Still confused? New York Magazine summed it up pretty well, or you could just check it out yourself…

Not to worry, there are some singers who in fact do have the range, including Ariana Grande, Christina Aguilera, and Beyoncé, of course:

The Twitter world responded positively to @KingBeyonceStan’s Twitter thread, some calling him the “greatest music critic alive…”

Whether it’s because of the play-on-words of an artist’s musical “range,” or just the sheer blunt comments, we kind of definitely love this! So check it out to find out if your favorite artist has the range – or not…
