SheFinds News: Chicago Gets a Little More Urban
February 27, 2006
Chicago-area hipsters and college coeds have something new to cheer about: Urban Outfitters recently opened the doors of a new retail store, the city’s third. The new venue at 20 State Street carries the franchise’s ubiquitous slogan tees, as well as full men’s and women’s apparel lines, a housewares line targeted primarily at the well-to-do dorm room set, and a collection of tongue-in-cheek art and coffee table books. The space is reminiscent of a funky-functional Victorian-mansion-meets-warehouse, with antique-style chandeliers lighting two floors and a suspended mezzanine. If you can’t make it to Chicago to check out the newest addition to the Urban family, browse the wares online. My Urban favorite: a kitschy-casual Love For Sale graphic tee ($32) in kelly green, complete with screen-printed bling (gold chains, charms and jewels, oh my!) Pair it with skinny jeans like Lux’s Stretch Slims in Nevada wash ($68), and cute, girly ballet flats ($18). If you’re really itching to get the authentic Chicago Urban experience, splurge on the Deluxe Chandelier ($140) to give your pad a shabby chic look that mimics the hip outfitter’s style.
