Back in the ’50s, women from suburbia would host Tupperware parties as a way to socialize, make some money (or freebies) and indulge in shopping. Nowadays, these parties are all about fancy home decor, makeup, shoes, lingerie or even sex toys. That’s right. This little retro pastime is resurfacing in a whole new light and there’s nothing about it that even comes close to resembling the likes of the Stepford Wives.
Since not everyone is really up for a home shopping party — planning one is no trip to Bergdorf’s, let me tell you — there’s another option. Shopping parties hosted by big fashion and beauty companies make you pay a small fee at the door to shop to your heart’s content, martini in hand, with all your gals by your side. It sure beats doing the dishes.
