Remember your first ever designer purse, the one you begged your parents to buy you for Christmas and how cool it made you feel when you walked into school that first day with it slung proudly over your shoulder? Most likely it was that little black Kate Spade bag with the soft satin-finish and the rectangular shaped logo so small you practically had to squint to read the letters. But that didn’t matter, we all knew what it said: Kate Spade New York.
WWD reported last week that Kate and her husband Andy are stepping down from the company they founded fourteen years ago. They are off to have new adventures, travel the world, explore other areas of interest, and spend time with their two and a half year old daughter only to remain as advisors to the company board. Well, farewell Spades, thanks for the memories.
