SheFinds News: Resort is the New Spring

February 3, 2006 by Hayley

The term “resortwear” usually brings to mind sequined sarongs and flamingo embellished beach coverups. Yet cruise and resort labels have undergone an overhaul and include cocktail dresses, breezy jackets- just about everything, but styled for warm weather. Designers are taking advantage of the resort and cruise lines in order to sell more of their spring fashions at full price. The merchandise debuts in stores as early as October and November. Retailers are reveling in resortwear because the bright, lightweight clothing may encourage people to splurge on these items amidst drab winter mark-downs. Saks is carrying a diverse range of resortwear, including the Lafayette Raw Silk Wrap Halter Top in a luxurious hunter green. The Missoni Ethel Fringe Dress is breathtaking- worth the price whether you’re going to a fab resort or not. For fun, flirty, well-priced dresses like the Shoshanna pink chiffon embroidered strapless dress check out bluefly.com.
