Burt’s Bees is expanding their product line for 2006: the highlights include a Grapefruit and Sugar Beet Shampoo and Conditioner (they’ve never done hair carebefore), a yummy-sounding Honey Lip Balm, Cucumber Chamomile Complexion Mist, and Citrus and Ginger Root Body Wash, and new colors in their Lip Shimmer collection. They’ve also got a Baby Bee Soothing Stick up their sleeves. The newbies are slated to launch in 2006, and look for a schnazzy, expensive ad campaign as well (about $10 million has been earmarked in ad money for next year).
Don’t know if you’ve noticed, but during 2005, I’ve started to see Burt’s Bees in places I thought were pretty unlikely for a natural-products company, in chains like Walgreens and CVS. Rest assured, thoughthey’re still using the same natural ingredients, it’s just that the marketing folks decided to go beyond the Whole Foods crowd and increase exposure to a new customer base. The Burt’s Bees Body Care kit (12.95) is a good introduction to Burt’s products.
