Luxist.com, the authority on all things highfalutin, has decreed Oscar’s Best and Worst Dressed. They give high marks to Best Actress winner Reese Witherspoon in vintage 1955 Dior and Manolo Blahnik heels. Presenters Ziyi Zhang (Armani) and Salma Hayek (azure Versace) made the list. Jennifer Garner in a shimmering Michael Kors gown displayed her abundant post-partum cleavage. Luxist also gave high marks to Jessica Alba in a golden Versace gown. She dressed like an Oscar in a sad attempt to fit in. She’s undeniably beautiful but did not belong at the Academy Awards. (Did anyone see ‘Into the Blue?’ Me either.) They dogged on Michelle Williams’ Vera Wang calling it a “tangerine nightmare.” Ouch. Though my Mother always told me not to wear yellow (as a pale skinned, formerly white blonde haired kid) I thought her vibrant red lips set off the rich saffron of the gown. Her porcelain skin was flawless. And her arm candy wasn’t too shabby either. Find the full list at Luxist.com. And because not all tuxes are created equal, the men aren’t spared from judgement.
The good, bad, and ugly isn’t not just about the designer clothes. Celebrity hairstylist, Marc Anthony of Canada, was in LA scoping out the Best Tressed. Felicity Huffman came out on top for looking “perfectly polished…the best she has ever looked.” Jennifer Aniston, whose hair has sparked copycats worldwide, went with straight locks. Back to wearing her signature black for thered carpet, her understaed look did not attract attention away from the stars of the evening. However, Aniston was in now way lost in the crowd. Marc Anthony would have changed Keira Knightly’s upswept pony but he gushed over Jessica Alba’s updo. George Clooney was, in Anthony’s opinion, living up to his Sexiest Man Alive moniker.
