Body Flaw Fixer: For Joseph Dresses
August 19, 2008
Always on the lookout for chic yet flattering new styles, SheFinds editors Rebekah and Bryn tried on two For Joseph dresses specifically designed to hide different figure flaws. See how each one fared.
What: Colette Mini Dress, $120 (tried on by SheFindsRebekah)
For: Petite gals, ladies with small busts, anyone who wants to hide a bit of a tummy.
How it fared: First, let me say some nice things about the lovely soft fabric. It feels good against the skin and is light enough for steamy summer days. The crocheted inset adds a flirty, feminine vibe, and unlike many dresses with seams above the bust, this one fell flatteringly down the body instead of looking shapeless. One warning: this mini dress is mini. If you don’t plan on wearing it with tights or to the beach, you may want to order a size up for some extra length.
What: Naomi Dress, $135 (tried on by SheFindsBrynT)
For: Ladies so lovingly referred to as "pear-shaped".
How it fared: I wouldn't necessarily call myself a pear, however, if there is one body part I am most self-conscious about it is my hips. Yet, in the summer, Spanx are not the best option, so I resort to figure-flattering dresses. The For Joseph Naomi Dress, which is specifically designed to bell out slightly from the rib cage was comfortable, flattering, and perfect for my body type. Just make sure to invest in a slip underneath, since the white fabric is oh so sheer.
