Nail Your Holiday Party Look With These No-Fail Tips From Shoshanna Gruss
December 10, 2014
If there is one woman who just gets party dresses, it’s Shoshanna Gruss. Her eponymous line is pretty much a no-brainer when you’re looking for a dress for any special occasion, be it a wedding or a fancy event. So who better to turn to for advice on perfecting the holiday party outfit? Whether you’re shivering at the thought of wearing a dress in December or you literally hate sequins, Shoshanna has the perfect solution for you. Read on below.
SHEfinds: What’s your idea of the perfect office holiday party look?
Shoshanna Gruss: The holidays are a great time to add sparkle to your look. Since it’s an office party, I would do a sequin cocktail dress with a chic, business casual black blazer over it. That way, you can still look festive while maintaining a professional look.
SF: If a woman doesn’t really want to wear a dress to a holiday party, what are some just-as-dressy alternatives?
SG: The jumpsuit! We have so many other options besides dresses and skirts. The jumpsuit is a playful alternative to the holiday cocktail dress.
SF: What are your tips for a cute holiday look that doesn’t require you to freeze?
SG: Don’t even think about not wearing tights when it’s freezing out! It’s better that you stay comfortable and confident, and don’t concentrate on what you wish you had done instead. Also, throw a blazer or fitted leather jacket over your look to ensure that you stay warm.
SF: When in doubt about what to wear to a party, what’s the one dress + accessory every woman should own for a no-fail party look?
SG: Easy–a little black dress, statement necklace or bangles and a killer pair of heels.
SF: If you hate sequins, what’s a festive New Year’s Eve alternative?
SG: I get it–not everyone loves sequins. If they simply aren’t your thing, go for a matching crop top/skirt combination. It’s festive and playful and you cannot go wrong with it.
SF: What are your favorite festive Shoshanna styles for this season?
SG: That’s a tough question. I love our Anna Sequin Dress–it’s so cheerful with a sexy edge. Our Sierra Jumpsuit is for that cool girl who walks into the room and all eyes are on her. Our Abbie Dress is a favorite as well. There’s just something about a winter white that is cool, crisp and sophisticated.
SF: What are you wearing on New Year’s Eve?
SG: It’s possible I change my mind six more times, but right now I’m leaning towards the Cropped Fern Top.
