Site Review: Home of the Sampler

If you’re an artsy-crafty woman, the Home of the Sampler will provide you with inspiration. Literally. Essentially an online convention for people who run web-based businesses, the Sampler allows indie crafters, shops, zines and record labels to publicize their crafts, while receiving lots of goodies in return. Subscribers to the Sampler donate work that is representative of their craft and then, each month, receive samples of other peoples’ work. It’s like a grown-up version of Show-and-Tell – each independent artist gets to show off their work to other art lovers. And as an added bonus, you’ll receive in the mail a fabulously random package of handmade note cards, jewelry, soaps, magnets, keychains, hair doo-dads… The list is infinite – just like your creative juices! Subscriptions to the Sampler cost $20 for one month or $50 for three and, the more samples an artist contributes, the more perks she receives on the Sampler website! (For example, a free ad, prominent placement on the Sampler site, and distribution of her promo materials for many months.) For more information, check out homeofthesampler.com.
