These Are The Best Skirts For 5 Different Body Types

As every woman knows, getting dressed is all about your body type. Here’s how to find the best style of skirt for you based on your particular figure.

If you have an apple body type, with a smaller lower body and more weight around your middle, you are perfectly suited for flouncy skirts with high waists. That high waist will go right around the smallest part of your stomach, accentuating it and making it seem even slimmer. Pleated skirts are especially great, as the structure of the folds will further mask your stomach. The flouncy bottom of the skirt will cover up your larger midsection, and your long, lean legs will peek out from under the short hem… and catch all of the attention.

Mini skirts are great options if you have the straight, slim figure that comes along with a banana body type. Go for something as short and form-fitting as you dare. This will maximize all the curves that you do have, despite your waist, hips and shoulders all being roughly the same width. Patterned skirts are especially great for showing off curves. Wearing such a short skirt will also accentuate your lean legs.

For women with the curvy figure of an hourglass body type, pencil skirts are the way to go. The defined, fitted waist will show off your own slim middle, while the straight cut will show off your great curves while simultaneously smoothing out your thighs. Try a pencil skirt topped off with a peplum to further define your waist and how small it is in relation to your hips.

If your hips are the widest part of your entire body, you’re a classic example of a pear figure – and will look amazing in any A-line skirt. These show off the tiniest part of your waist while flaring out over your wider hips and bottom. Similarly, midi skirts look great on this body type.

Carrot-shaped women, with their broad shoulders, large bust, slim hips and waist and long legs, look great in tulip and full circle skirts. These add volume to your lower body while balancing out your relatively larger upper half. Panels, ruffles, pleats and other detailing near the hips as well as bold and bright colors will further highlight the best parts of your body. If you go the pencil skirt route, choose one that goes straight down instead of one that tapers. With your shapely legs, short skirts are no problem.
