Mascara is one of my everyday makeup essentials. I don’t wear a ton of makeup, but I rarely ever leave the house without mascara. My lashes are a pretty good length, but they’re thin, fine and light in color, so I definitely need the drama of a good black mascara to help open up my eyes.
Given that I use mascara so religiously, I’m pretty discerning when it comes to what I’ll use. The wand has to be just right and the product itself needs to be perfect. I swear by this one, but my other go-to is Soap & Glory’s Thick & Fast HD Mascara in Black. I use it four to five days out of the week and without fail, people always ask me what I’m wearing on my lashes.
Truth be told, I didn’t love this mascara the first time I used it. The wand and the mascara took some time and practice, but over the last year or so I’ve really fallen in love with it. For starters, this mascara is very black and very thick. It definitely requires a steady hand and precise application, otherwise you’ll end up with raccoon eyes. I used to just swipe mascara on willy nilly, but with this one it’s more like painting my lashes. First, I lay the wand horizontal and wiggle up from the lash line. Then I use the tip to paint any spots that needs a little more oomph. The result is elongated lashes that are nice and dark and make my eyes look brighter. It doesn’t take very long or very much product to get the desired look, just a little patience and precision.
It’s also worth noting that this mascara stays put! It never flakes and doesn’t even give me that weird black undereye thing that sometimes happens with mascara. I put it on at 7am every morning and it looks just as perfect at 7pm when I get home.
I’ll also add that I really love the gold tube. It just feels so special and luxe.
I’ve saved the best info for last; this mascara is just $11.99! Who says a winning formula needs to cost a fortune? Soap & Glory’s Thick & Fast HD Mascara that’s simply not true.
