Spiders, Projectile Vomit, Childbirth--None of That Scares Me As Much As This Guy...
April 11, 2012
Earlier this morning, I couldn’t help but be intrigued when I read a teaser about the man who replaced Osama bin Laden on the FBI’s 10 Most Wanted List. I mean, those are some big shoes to fill so I was curious to find out who fit the bill.
Now if you, like me, are expecting some psycho serial killer or a terrorist mastermind, you’re wrong. The newest addition to the FBI’s Most Wanted List is actually a teacher.
Well, Justin Toth was a teacher before the school he was working for in Washington D.C. found child pornography on a school-issued camera he was in possession of. The school put him on leave, contacted the police and that’s when Toth–who was just 26 at the time–went on the run. So far, the FBI has evidence of him being in Indiana, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois and Arizona. In addition to possessing child pornography, Toth is also wanted for child pornography production.
Now I don’t mean to freak you out, but I guess I sort of do. Looking at that pic above of Justin Toth, he could be a teacher in any one of our children’s schools. Before teaching, he probably had no criminal record and he looks innocent enough. But in a matter of 4 years, he went from third grade teacher at a prestigious private school to fugitive. That’s scary.
What’s even scarier–especially to me because my daughter starts formal schooling in September–is that they say Toth is “well educated, charismatic and likable.” Basically, he’s everything you’d want in a good teacher. So how do you know? How do you protect your child from someone like this?
It’s no secret that I’m already a bit paranoid, so it should come as no surprise that things like this just send me through the roof. So to all you moms with kids in school, how do you deal? How do you not constantly worry? Share your thoughts in the comments.
