…can a fun-loving phrase like “barbecue Saturday!” inspire a whirlwind of worrisome thinking: bowls of potato chips, calorie-dense cheese dip, and dozens of hamburger buns all tempting you away from your meticulously maintained summer health campaign.
To keep yourself from getting derailed, use a strategy I adopted many outdoor dinner parties ago: Bring the hostess a bag or two of baked chips along with your beer or wine. You’ll have something low-fat to munch on, and she won’t worry about running out of snacks.
Then have dessert. Maybe two servings. Nobody said I was perfect.
