Spring Trend We Refuse To Wear: Florals
January 17, 2014
Floral prints were one of the biggest trend takeaways from the spring 2014 runways. Everyone from Cristian Dior and Balenciaga to Marni and Comme des Garcons had a floral piece to present. And if you were listening closely during those shows, you may have overheard a Miranda Priestly-like editor out there say, “Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking.”
Seriously, Anna Wintour must have had her bored face on when anything floral walked out from behind that stage (unless of course it was 3D printed. That changes everything). There is nothing new or novel about floral prints for the spring, and it doesn’t take a fashion editrix to know that.
In 2012, floral prints pants were hot. In 2013, all-over floral (mix and matched even) kept getting the attention of street style photographers. In 2014? Come on, ladies. You’ll need something not of a flowering plant-print to be ahead of the fashion game.
These 8 prints and pieces feature no floral, a little bit of fauna and a lot of stripes, metallics and anything that isn’t flower-like.
