If we were to morph our favorite pump and slip-on sandal together, the result would be this spring season’s soon-to-be favorite shoe: the mule heel. Now before you start to coil in disdain, let us explain. The mule, which comes from the French word for a strapless, slip-on shoe, has been a high fashion go-to for decades. (Manolo Blahnik has been designing his own version since the 80s.) And if the idea of sporting a mule heel right now makes you think like you’re slipping on a pair of antiquated relics, well, you’re wrong. This season, a number of designers (Celine, Chloe, Altuzarra, just to name a few) have updated the mule heel into something that’s more modern, sleeker, and basically, way cooler than the frumpy clog pair that usually comes to mind. Think vampy, not orthopedic. And so, now that spring shopping is starting to creep up on us, won’t you give these darling mules a try? Check out our slideshow for our favorite pairs that are sure to convince you into slipping them on.
