We’ve always been envious of the California-cool look that we see on surfer girls–windblown blond hair, the perfect tan, and the ability to make wetsuits and flip flops look ridiculously cool. This season, we’re in luck, because surfing culture has infilitrated fashion. From boardshorts to rashguards, items usually reserved for the beach are hitting streets everywhere. Designers such as Rag & Bone, Gryphon, and Jonathan Simkhai have hopped on the bandwagon for this trend.

The secret to pulling it off? Don’t dress as if you’re going to a theme party. That is, if you’re rocking a rash-guard, try it with denim shorts and cute gladiator sandals. Or, if you want to try the board shorts, wear them with a sheer white tanktop and metallic heel sandals.

Browse through the slideshow for our favorite surf-inspired pieces. Then, check out other trends we’re loving for fall like embellished espadrilles, mirrored sunglasses, and visors.
