Well, for the first time in his illustrious career hosting The Bachelor and Bachelorette, Chris Harrison finally got his wish: last night’s announcement was the most dramatic one EVER. Of course, I’m talking about the announcement of the next Bachelorette or, I should say, Bachelorettes: Britt and Kaitlyn. Apparently, the producers at ABC we having such a hard time deciding which girl would garner better ratings would charm 25 male suitors more, so they just decided not to decide. Both women will be on The Bachelorette next season, with the potential new husbands deciding which woman they prefer on the first night. And let me tell you, I don’t think anyone is too happy about.
For those of you who don’t know the girls, Britt is the drop dead gorgeous one that everyone thought was a shoo-in, who was sent home after Chris Soules found out she wasn’t being genuine. Kaitlyn, on the other hand, was the second runner-up, the funny one who would have made a perfect Bachelorette all on her own. She’s the one who seemed really peeved when the announcement was made last night on the live special that aired after the season finale of The Bachelor. Her choices of words? “That’s not ideal.” Yeah, understatement of the century. The Twitterverse weighed in on the matter, too, as it always does, and overall, people are not amused.
I thought the point of The Bachelorette was to give one woman the power to choose who her future husband would be? Not the other way around. Suffice it to say that they would never have made this decision if it were two men, but at least Chris Harrison will get the dramatic season premiere he’s always wanted.
