Last weekend it was super hot in NYC, so I took my daughter to the beach. See, this is us:
On every prior trip to the beach, my daughter normally stays put on the blanket and doesn’t want any sand to touch her and definitely no water. But last weekend, something changed and all of sudden she was really into the water. It was gradual, of course. First, she let me hold her while I stood in the ocean. Then she got down and played with the wet sand on the shore. And then she was full-on knee deep in water. And loving it!
I was so excited to see her having a good time, I didn’t even think about her poor little butt. I didn’t bring swim diapers because I was sure she wasn’t even getting close to the water. But when we got back to our towel, her diaper was drenched and so was my daughter’s butt.
This weekend, we’re heading to the ‘burbs to another beach and I am definitely bring some swim diapers. The drugstore closest to my apartment sells Huggies Little Swimmers, but I’m wondering if any of you have better recommendations. I’m actually not a Huggies fan–no, not because of those horrendous diaper jeans–but that’s all I’ve been able to find on such short notice.
If there’s a better brand you swear by, let me know in the comments. And I’ll let you know how the Huggies worked out next week.
