You Don’t Need A Pop Star’s Beauty Budget To Afford Minx Anymore: Introducing Nail Rock
Nicki Minaj may make some seriously questionable sartorial decisions (remember the poof-ball dress from fashion week SS12?), but no one can deny that the woman knows how to work a manicure. Get Your Bling From The Bottle (If He Didn’t Put A Ring On It)
Bling may not be your thing, but we must say that the nail trend of understated gold polish has caught our fancy. These new, shimmery shades are gold and sparkly without looking like something J.Lo would wear. Best of all, they look great on all skin tones--dark, bronzed or totally pale. Plus, they make accessorizing a breeze: with gold on your toes and fingers, you're pretty much done. Even though Spa Ritual's Gold Digger ($10) is a vegan product - you won't feel like a hippie in this rich, golden color. OPI At Your Quebec and Call ($8.50) is less straight gold than shimmery khaki. It goes perfectly with the military green anorak jackets that are huge this year. Ulta French Sparkle ($3.99) is less full-on gold foil than demur, champagne-sparkly. Perfect with the flip-flop/beach look and the peep-toe-pump/bar look. Celeb fave Deborah Lippmann has a terrific take on the style; Believe ($16) is a warm gold tone that was co-created by Cher. She knows a thing or two about Vegas bling. Looking for more makeup tips? Check out our buying guide to the best waterproof makeup for other great beach-braving products.
