Target Confirms That Millions Of Credit Cards Were Hacked On Black Friday #OhNo
December 19, 2013
Target is probably one of the most popular stores for people to shop at on Black Friday, and it looks like consumers weren’t the only ones to figure that out. Some pretty experienced hackers succeeded in one of the biggest breaches in retail history, stealing up to 40 million credit and debit card numbers over the last few weeks. You might think that if you live in some PA hick town or deep in the woods in the midwest, there’s no way your card could have been involved. But nearly all Target stores across the country were affected.
The only way that you could be saved from this mess is if you shopped online (praise the lord!). Supposedly information was stolen from the magnetic strip on the credit cards, so it didn’t have anything to do with numbers you key in on the website. The retail giant still hasn’t commented on the scandal, but you should probably go cancel your credit card if you have any concerns whatsoever. You don’t a big surprise like that during the holidays.
