NOTE: Spoilers ahead!

After what felt like months and months of torture and withdrawal, Scandal finally returned tonight. And praise Shonda, it didn’t disappoint. Between seeing Olivia and Fitz together and in love in the White House to a small glimpse of Jake (love that man!), Season 5 is off to a great start.

But the real highlight of the season premiere? All the realness that was served! Scandal fans already know and love these characters for their epic rants and monologues, but the writers just completely showed out for tonight’s episode. Below, a quick recap of all the best “serves” from the Season 5 premiere of Scandal.

1. Elizabeth North serving Mellie Grant. Elizabeth North (played by Portia de Rossi) was none too happy when Mellie “summoned” her in an effort to make the President attend her swearing in ceremony. Elizabeth quickly had to let Mellie know, “I was never loyal to you.” Boom!

2. Fitz serving Mellie Grant. Them divorce papers! Booyah! Last night clearly was not Mellie’s night.

3. The Prince of Caldonia serving the Queen of Caldonia. When he found out his mother was to blame for his wife’s murder, the prince was none too happy. “The only time I’ll be able to stand the sight of your face is at your funeral.” Ouch.

4. Olivia Pope serving the Queen of Caldonia. All fairy tales may not have a happy ending, but all evil queens tend to go down Ms. Pope whispered to her majesty before strutting away. Burn…
