The 6 Apps Every Beauty-Lover Should Download Immediately

Beauty and tech have gone hand-in-hand for quite a while now. Need we remind you about Sephora’s insanely amazing foundation matching scanner? The best tech for beauty-lovers isn’t just in-stores, though–it’s on your iPhone! And if you think about it, it makes perfect sense; if you can order dinner, pay rent and get an Amazon order delivered right from your smartphone, then why not find the perfect red lipstick or figure out where exactly to contour my cheekbones there, too?

Luckily, there are tons of great beauty apps to help you do all that and more, so from makeup tips to beauty services at your fingertips, here are the 6 apps every beauty-lover should have on her smartphone.

Priv. Got a hot date or a surprise get-together after work, but don’t have time to run to the salon? Priv has your back. The app’s team of makeup artists, hair stylists, manicurists and even masseurs can stop by your casa or your office for an impromptu beauty session. The app is currently only available in Los Angeles and New York, but is expanding to more cities soon.

Makeup Alley. If you’ve ever bought a high-end cleanser or moisturizer only to have it break you out, you’re well-aware of the dangers of buying a new product without doing much research (or giving in to pushy salespeople). Makeup Alley acts like a makeup encyclopedia of sorts, jam-packed with reviews on just about every beauty product out there. This isn’t a place bogged down by advertisements and affiliates, so each review is completely unbiased, perfect for getting an honest assessment about that lipstick in your shopping cart.

Stash Beauty. We’re all guilty of scrolling through our Instagram feeds, coveting a beauty editor’s lipstick or an It Girl’s blush. Instead of guessing about what they’re wearing, Stash helps you figure out exactly what product(s) they used and tells you where you can buy them. Best of all, with a collection of 115,000 products, users can upload a list of their own go-to products so that the app will alert you when you’re favorite products go on or when you’re running low on something.

PrettyQuick. In desperate need of a last-minute blowout, but don’t want to go from salon to salon to find an opening? PrettyQuick uses your location to find the last-minute availabilities at your favorite salons. It will even tell you the salon’s ambiance (luxe, no frills, or boutique) and a star rating.

Sephora to Go. When it comes to shopping for beauty products from your phone, this is really and truly the one app you need. Not only does it make hauling super easy, but it also has exclusive mobile offers which definitely encourages shopping… a lot.

Think Dirty. Get your mind out of the gutter: this app isn’t going to be your new Magic Mike fix. Instead, the app helps you make sense of those complicated labels on your makeup and skincare by listing which ingredients are okay for you and which are not. Just scan the product’s barcode, and it ranks all the components out for you on a scale of 1 through 10, 10 being stay-away territory.
