The Easiest Way To Clean White Clothes, Once And For All
July 7, 2016
I love wearing white, and as someone who prefers a minimalist approach to getting dressed, white is a big part of my neutrals-only closet. The only problem? Wearing white when you have a tendency to spill everything you eat or drink is a struggle. Add the whole living-in-NYC thing and my poor white clothes have put up with some major abuse – but there’s an easy way to keep your whites white that you’ve probably never heard yet. Allow me to explain.
Two words: lemon juice. It turns out that lemon juice is an amazing alternative to bleach when it comes to removing stains from white clothes. To spot-treat a stain, mix equal parts lemon juice and water and spray on the stain – it works like a dream on underarm stains on a white blouse. If you simply need to brighten a load of whites, just add between 1/4 and 1/2 cup of lemon juice to your laundry load – it’s that easy.
Luckily, lemon juice allows for a no-fear approach to wearing whites – no need to freak out every time you take your favorite pair of white jeans out of your closet.
