If the runways of Louis Vuitton, Naeem Kahn, Marc Jacobs and Erin Fetherston have anything to say about it (hint: they do), headbands are going to be huge this spring. Personally, we’re thrilled. Once upon a time, we had a headband collection envied by the rest of the seventh grade, and we can’t wait to bring it back. This year’s headband feels like Blair Waldorf meets the sultry seventies. From patterned turbans at Marc Jacobs’ show, to thick, metallic bands at Naeem Kahn, and mod bows at Louis Vuitton, 2013’s headbands give a nod to the little girl fave but are one hundred percent adult.

Worried about looking too childlike when wearing this  trend? Here’s how to make sure you appear polished and stylish, not  like a schoolgirl in uniform:

1. Choose headbands with only 1 “girlish” quality–if it’s pastel pink and has a massive bow, it may be hard to pull off if you’re over thirteen.

2. Make sure the rest of your ensemble doesn’t scream “young”–choose a structured blazer, an LBD, or a boho-chic maxi dress.

3. Let you hair go wild! Curl it, braid it, blow it out–your headband doesn’t have to be holding back a head of trim, tame locks.

Don’t wait for spring–browse our favorite headbands on sale now!

We’ve got the rest of your hair needs covered too–check out our posts on post-workout hairdos,  wool fedoras, and cold-weather trapper hats.
