Yesterday, Hulu premiered the first episode of The Mindy Project season four and it was everything. If you haven’t watched the first episode yet then stop reading! Spoiler alerts ahead!
The premiere episode picks up right where season three left off and Danny is knocking on the Lahiri’s door in India. After spilling his guts to Mr. Lahiri about not wanting to get married and confessing he’s the father to Mindy’s baby, he finds out the man isn’t actually Mr. Lahiri. He quickly introduces himself as Mindy’s co-worker and gets roped into staying with the Lahiri’s.
Mindy then finds herself living in an alternate universe. In it, Mindy is married to Matt aka Joseph Gordon-Levitt, where they met on a flight, kissed and fell in love. Yeah, that same flight where Mindy and Danny had their first kiss…except in this universe that never happened. In fact, Mindy and Danny have a horrible relationship and barely spoke for the last two years!
Meanwhile, back in India, Mindy’s parents enlist Danny’s help in finding her a suitor. With Morgan’s help (he tracked Danny down) Danny realizes marriage isn’t so bad after all. He finally confesses everything to her parents and they are very understanding and just want the best for Mindy.
Back in Mindy’s alternate world, she realizes she wants her old life back so she sets out to find Danny and convince him that he loves her just as much as she loves him. She interrupts Danny’s date with Freida Pinto and tells him they are meant to be together. Mindy kisses him in the rain and he stops it because he’s conflicted and walks away. When Mindy chases after him saying they truly are meant for each other…she gets hit a by a bus and wakes up to Danny comforting her.
Mindy finds out that he was in India with her parents, and he confesses that seeing her parents so in love made him rethink the whole marriage thing. Danny then gets on his knee and asks Mindy to marry him! She obviously said yes.
YAAAS!! I loved the premiere and I’m so happy this show is back in action. What did you think?!
