The More Wild The Better When It Comes To Animal Accessories For Fall
August 30, 2012
I’m not exactly sure when kitschy, bright-eyed owls and birds sitting on a wire became the international template for jewelry design (thank you, Kelly Bensimon?), but I’m definitely happy to see them go. This season, it’s all about tough, commanding accessories with seriously wild embellishments. I’m not talking about rich beading or over-the-top glitter, but actual wild embellishments. You heard it here first: the animals of the jungle are taking over your wrists (and necks, and ears, and fingers…).
Everywhere from the quilted fox-clasp clutch at Burberry or the talon cuff from Pamela Love‘s fall 2012 collection, opulent (and often, metallic) animal silhouettes are taking the spotlight away from animal print. Instead of playing it safe with pony hair heels or a zebra-print clutch, up the style ante and opt for an elephant necklace, a full snake-wrapped ring or a fox head hinged cuff for a look that’s polished, but with a hint of jest. Click through to find out which not-so-snuggly jungle creatures are officially putting owls out of business.
