Alaïa, Azzedine Alaïa’s namesake brand, will soon include a fragrance and cosmetic line, according to WWD. The designer, known as the “King of Cling” for his bodycon designs that ruled the Paris fashion scene in the 1980s, is partnering with Beauté Prestige International to create the collection and is eager to begin work:
I am delighted to work with them in launching this new project. I have total confidence in Beauté Prestige International to accompany me in creating a perfume that interprets my work and my world.
If his leather laser-cut cosmetic case ($1,000) is any indication as to what the collection’s packaging might be like, this is going to be one awesome line. However, it won’t be without competition. Many high-end designers have begun dabbling in beauty collections, including Alber Elbaz of Lanvin, Olympia Le Tan, and Karl Lagerfeld.
