When sneaker wedges were all the rage, we knew that the trend would eventually sway across the style spectrum towards minimal designs in the form of simple slip-ons or all-white lace-ups. (Isabel Marant’s over-it-approval sealed the deal, too.) And now that fashion sneakers are suddenly starting to spot platform soles, it looks like we still want a bit of height when it comes to our casual footwear. We prefer this look with little details, like solid-colored canvas or leather, to compensate for the added inches. But the sneaker trend still looks good with hardware accents or textured materials or prints. The platform can add a bit of drama to the most casual look—think cropped mom jeans (or should we call them “relaxed fit?”) and a slouchy chunky knit sweater—or a playful vibe to your holiday party outfit. Check out our slideshow to see which platform-soled sneakers you’ll want to try on.
