We know, we know, it’s so tempting to lay in bed and stare at your phone. You just need to catch up on your Instagram feed and must check any new Snapchat stories…
But, you could be harming yourself more than you know! According to Business Insider, research shows that looking at a blue-and-white light can harm your sleep, and also your level of alertness the next day. The light emitted from smartphones, tablets, e-readers and our other favorite electronics impact the amount of melatonin our brain releases when we go to sleep. Losing sleep is the last thing we want–we need our beauty rest!
Some experts suggest that not using our devices for just an hour before going to bed could help us fall asleep faster and regulate our internal body clocks.
So next time you’re going to bed, try it out! Who doesn’t love a little extra sleep?
