The One Thing You Should Never Do When Applying Eyeliner

Eyeliner can be a girl’s best friend — AND worst enemy. When your cat-eye in on-fleek, you’re on top of the world. You radiate confidence! You’ve mastered a life skill!! There’s nothing you can’t do!!! BUT, more often than not, you’re stuck with those dull, smudgy liner days. You know, the ones where you worry people will think you slept in your makeup… Uggh, we know them all too well.

As it turns out, those eyeliner fails are often attributed to one thing: your lower lash line. Generally, people aren’t too sure what they’re supposed to be doing with those bottom lashes. Like are we supposed to apply mascara? Line the entire eye? Line just the waterline? And if so, HOW?!

Well, responses vary, but experts tend to agree with these directives: forgo using black liner on your lower lash line, opt to only line your waterline, or skip lining the bottom row altogether. It can be a serious drag trying to get bottom liner to stay put, especially when it’s a super noticeable color (i.e.: black).

Unless “tired and old” starts trending, runny liner is not a good look. If you’d rather appear bright-eyed and alert, line just your outside waterline with a light or shimmery color (white, nude, gold…) It makes such a big difference! Plus, it looks fabulous with any eye color!
