If you are anything like me, there’s no such thing as too much coffee. Especially since it’s been proven that coffee helps fight depression in women and helps lower the risk of stroke and prostate cancer. With these findings, you would think the more coffee the merrier, right? Yeah, that’s not quite the case…
The total number of coffee cups we can drink per day is no more than… four cups. For pregnant women, this gets cut down to no more than two cups per day. Considering that the average cup of coffee contains around 100mg of caffeine, four cups of coffee would amount to 400mg of caffeine. To put this in perspective, four cups of coffee equates to 10 cans of soda or two “energy shot” drinks. All of a sudden four cups of coffee does sound like a lot!
But the reason why it’s not recommended to drink more than four cups of coffee is because of the major side-effects that come along with this much caffeine, including:
– Stomach upset
– Fast heartbeat
– Muscle tremors
With all that said, as good as those four cups of coffee sound… it may not be worth it. But if you must drink four cups, it’s recommended to at least drink one cup of water for every cup of coffee!
