The One Thing You Should Never Do When Getting A Manicure

Although I’ve mastered painting my own nails, nothing quite compares to getting a professional manicure. You leave the salon with your nails trimmed and painted to perfection. However, there’s one thing you most definitely should not (like, ever) do when you get a manicure.

So what is it? You should never have your cuticles cut. Whether at home or in a salon, you should totally steer clear of cuticle cutters. I know it’s tempting but it really isn’t worth it. Once you cut your cuticles, you’ll have to keep trimming and trimming. To get them to grow back to how they were pre-cut takes a really long time.

Cuticles serve a really important role in your body’s health. Think of them as a barrier between dirt/bacteria and your body. When you cut it away, you are cutting away the barrier. Plus, it’s even worse if you’re using a cuticle trimmer that hasn’t been properly sanitized. It may not seem like a big deal but you can expose yourself to serious infections.

It’s best to simply push back your cuticles or use a cuticle removing gel.
