Online shopping is THE BEST. I mean you literally press a button and send your latest purchase on its way to your front door. Plus, you’re guaranteed a shopping experience free of long lines and overzealous sales people. WIN-WIN.

The only downside occurs when your long-awaited package arrives. You tear at the seams of that glorious cardboard box and what do you find? A sea-foam green t-shirt that looked teal in the picture; a size medium that fits like a large; a pair of “authentic Jimmy Choos” that read “Jimmy Chow” on each sole… Bottom line: returns happen.

As tempting as it is to skip all the shipping details and bring your virtual find back to the store in-person, DON’T DO IT. Go through the whole label-printing UPS-dropping deal, start to finish. Why? For the sake of humanity, of course. Your local sales people will thank you. When you return something you bought online in-store it messes with the whole sales system. Because of this tendency, stores sometimes end up with more money in returns than in sales at the end of the day. Obviously, this is bad news all around. So leave a sales person smiling and return your online purchases ONLINE.
