Undereye concealer is my holy grail makeup product; it always has the power to make me look fresh and energetic, even after a late night. But as it turns out, I’ve been making a pretty crucial mistake when applying undereye concealer: applying it with my fingers.
Apparently, using your fingers is just about the worst way to apply concealer. When applying makeup, your hands touch a ton of different products which means they’re pretty dirty by the time you get to that delicate skin underneath your eyes. Depending on the order in which you apply your makeup, you make even have eyeshadow or mascara on your fingers when it comes time to apply concealer, which can often lead to extra shadows, smudges or flaws in the coverage- things you’re trying to avoid.
Smudges aside, your also hands carry lots of bacteria, which could make your skin break out. Even worse? Getting any of that yucky bacteria that’s on your hands into your eyes!
So instead of using your fingers to apply concealer, you absolutely, positively should invest in a concealer brush, or at the very least, use the applicator that came with your concealer.
Another added benefit of using a concealer brush is that it makes it a lot easier to pick up the right amount of product. Concealer contains a lot of pigment, and when you put it on with your fingers, you’re probably being a little too heavy handed. Plus, brushes are easy to use in a tapping motion, which will give your concealer a smoother, more airbrushed finish.
