The One Thing You Should Never Do When Washing Your Hair

This will either be the most obvious thing you’ve ever read–or it will completely change your life. Are you ready? You shouldn’t be conditioning your roots!!!!

Whaaa?! Yes! For the love of full volume hair, please STOP applying conditioner to your roots when you wash your hair, ladies. Here’s the reason why, from celebrity stylist and Ted Gibson Color Director Kitty Nadel:

“If your hair is fine or thin, the nutrients from conditioner will weigh the root down. Throw in a naturally oil scalp and your root won’t have any volume. Your hair will almost look wet by mid day!” #Yikes

Kitty says that you should shampoo your whole head and definitely condition your ends, “Remember that’s the hair that has been with you the longest, so it needs nourishment! It’s been with you through thick and thin (colorings, styling, etc.), so it needs extra love!”

She also says that the no-conditioner-on-your-roots rule does NOT apply, “If you have dry scalp or thicker unruly hair,”–so those girls are off the hook!

K, got it?
