When browsing the beauty counter, have you even noticed that a major designer brand is missing from the lineup? Most people assume that Gucci sells makeup along with their perfumes and colognes. But the Italian fashion band is a beauty virgin. But according to WWD, that’s about to change. Gucci is supposedly developing a makeup line that will hit shelves in 2014. A beauty collection is a next logical step for Gucci. They already have several successful fragrances under Procter & Gamble Co.’s Prestige division. Gucci has had a contract with P&G since 2006, but a spokesperson declined to comment on the potential makeup line.
Would you be interested in Gucci makeup? Younger designer labels, such has Michael Kors and Marc Jacobs, already have beauty collections in the works. In fact, you can get a mini version of Michael Kors’ Leg Shine ($10) at Sephora.com now. They rest of Kors’ line is expected to launch in August, while Marc Jacobs’ makeup collection will hit beauty counters on August 9.
