I apologize in advance if I’ve disappointed any stiletto lovers just by the title of this article. As women, we know that beauty knows no pain. However, in the case of wearing heels way too often, it actually does.
Sadly enough if you are a stiletto wearer like myself, you are at great risk for leg and foot damage. But that’s not all. You can also get arthritis thanks to those spikes. Yikes! According to a Harvard Study, wearing heels adds 23% more strain on your knees than wearing flats. And because of our unhealthy love of sky-high heels, we are twice as likely to develop osteoarthritis in our knees than men.
No need to go cold turkey and stop wearing heels altogether because you’re afraid of bone damage, but try to limit wearing them to once or twice a week. This will greatly reduce your chance of needing knee surgery in the future.
