We all have this notion that bottled water is better than tap, right? According to a study done in 2011, the water bottle industry can actually be quite misleading. A whopping 18% of water bottle brands decline to list their sources and astonishingly, choose to detail beautiful springs on their packaging when their water actually comes from their local tap. Crazy, right?
It’s easy for them to get away with that because the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) does not require reports on the water quality from bottle companies. Which brand is the worst of them all, though? According to the Environmental Working Group (EWG), Crystal Geyser Natural Alpine Spring Water received an “F” on its water quality reports. This is due to the lack of the transparency about where their water comes from and how much fluoride is contained in its product.
Not knowing what you’re digesting can be scary so the EWG suggests drinking filtered tap water, and guess what? It comes without the hefty price tag.
