The departement store Barneys New York has been under fire this week for racial profiling. Two young black customers have come forward saying they were mistakenly accused for shoplifting because of their skin color. People are not only outraged with the store, but also with Jay-Z for continuing to collaborate with Barneys on a holiday collection. There hasn’t been any official response yet from Jay’s camp, but the pressure is on.

Brooklyn resident Derrick Bowers even launched a petition to get Jay Z to cut ties with Barneys. He believes that the ultra expensive store “lacks any connection with the black and hip-hop community.”, and that “Jay Z should be appalled by Barneys actions, and withdraw all support from them.” Jay and Beyonce were very visible this summer during the Treyvon Martin protest in NYC, so we’re really curious to see what happens here. Looks like Barneys was just added to the list of 99 problems. What do you guys think? Should Jay-Z still collaborate with Barneys on a holiday collection?
