When the holidays come around, be sure to stock up on lurex, the lush fabric that twinkles just a hint of metallic, instead of blast-from-the-past sequins. The hunt for this look will be easy, as designers decided to take advantage of this festive material by updating classic and simple silhouettes for fall and winter. Prabal Gurung knitted the shiny thread into his macabre-like graphic sweaters (another fall trend!) while Marc Jacobs and Tibi dressed their models in head-to-toe lurex, from boxy sweatshirt tops, double-breasted coats, and short skirts, to cropped trousers. But for those that want to try this trend without the glittery pizzaz, check out Bottega Veneta and Rue de Mail, who adorned their long dresses and gowns in a demure black-and-gold lurex.
