This Is What You Should Drink When You Have A Hangover (Not Gatorade!)

One of the greatest lessons I learned in college was Gatorade cures a hangover (sorry, Mom and Dad!). After birthday parties or big nights out, I always chug a glass of Gato. Some people feel the same way about Pedialyte (yes, the stuff for babies). What both drinks have in common is that they are chock-full o’electrolytes, which are very important for your body when you’re dehydrated (that’s what drinking does to you, fyi).

However, a recent study from the University of Calgary in Canada found that a different drink is the best way to treat dehydration in kids: apple juice. Out of 647 kids who were treated for dehydration with the juice, 644 (99.5%) passed the follow-up exam. That’s impressive! When compared to kids who drank an electrolyte-based drink, 25% did not pass the follow-up exam.

So remember this as you continue to go through the dreaded cycle of drinking/hangovers. Apple juice is even BETTER than Gatorade and Pedialyte. Also, way more normal to purchase in a grocery store–just saying!
