Pretty much the worst thing in the world is when the low battery warning pops up on your iPhone and there’s no charger in sight. What I usually do is run to the nearest drugstore and buy one of those neon chargers they have in the bins by the register. However, I recently found out that you should never use a non-Apple iPhone charger. Yes, even in desperate times.
Using a non-Apple iPhone charger damages the U2 IC chip inside the phone. Wondering what the heck that is? Well, the U2 IC chip helps with some core functions like charging and the sleep/wake button. So yeah, you don’t want to mess with that chip. If you do use a non-Apple charger, it can cause your iPhone to stop working completely. Your phone might not charge at all or if it dies, it might never turn on again.
If you’re still considering using a third party charger, then you should know that they have caused fires in the past! Seriously, just spend the money on a certified Apple iPhone charger if you lose yours or need a new one for any reason. It’s definitely worth it to save *your precious child* aka, iPhone.
