Tinder Is Now Verifying Celebrity Accounts--But Should They?

There are always rumors swirling that so and so celebrity is using the dating app, Tinder. Until now, it was hard to tell if it was actually a real celebrity or just a fake profile. Similar to Twitter and Instagram, Tinder just introduced “Verified Profiles” so when “notable public figures, celebrities and athletes appear in your recommendations, you’ll know it’s for real.”

I personally don’t agree with Tinder verifying celebrity profiles. The reason celebrities probably join the app is to meet someone, a real person. If a Tinder user sees a verified symbol on their matches profile, chances are they will pursue said celebrity because, uh, they’re a celebrity. Hilary Duff openly admits to using the app. Lindsay Lohan and Leonardo DiCaprio are both rumored to use Tinder, among others.
