Like batwing tops and reverse mullet tees, the trapeze top (which is shorter in the front and longer at the hips, mimicking a trapeze) is slouchy, loose, and flattering on virtually every body type. These tops are perfect when worn for an event as a tunic (à la Vanessa HudgensAlice + Olivia tank), or for a day of shopping—to give that “I swear I just threw this outfit on at the last second (ok fine, my stylist has been planning it for weeks)” look, à la Whitney Port. Check out our favorite styles below–but if you just saw Water for Elephants and were hoping to find some actual circus-like clothing, check out  Reese Witherspoon’s scarf from the movie–it’s still available.
