The best part of the movie “War of the Worlds” was the leather jacket worn by Tom Cruise. The worn, racer-style jacket was meant to make superstar Cruise look like an “every man,” but it will be sure to make you look like anything but. Leather is back in a big way this fall, not that it ever really went away (sorry, PETA). But the success of the film (a fact that stymies me to this day) has bolstered the popularity of one jacket in particular, the “Hero” jacket by Italian company Belstaff. Legends of cool like Marlon Brando wore Belstaff jackets. Today, stars from all over are still clamoring to get the Hero. Reportedly, Angelina Jolie, the Rolling Stones (all of them, I suppose) and Madonna are fans, to name a few. Frankly, so am I. What makes them must-haves? Is it the racing stripes along the sleeves? Is it the trendy chocolate brown color, not traditional biker black? No matter. I gotta go – I have leather to buy! Find your Hero and other great Belstaff leather goods at belstaff.com.
