Catherine Zeta-Jones…Was she or was she not even more gorgeous than usual while playing Velma in the film “Chicago”? One of her grandest moments was the courtroom scene in which she wore a fab fur-trimmed coat and a cloche that framed her face perfectly. If you didn’t see the movie, a cloche is close-fitting women’s hat that has a rounded crown and narrow brim. They haven’t been around for a while, but the huge success of Chicago is bringing cloches back, albeit slowly. Zeta-Jones wore the front of the brim tipped up, showing off that cute little bob haircut. The asymmetrical look works to add visual interest. Christine A. Moore, a Philadelphia-based milliner whose hats are sold in shops around the country, makes the appropriately-named “Velma” cloche as part of her Fall collection. The beige and black two tone is great for casual fall or winter days. But for dressier occasions, opt for this straw and silk ribbon version instead. What a darling head covering for a wedding!
