Flip through the chunky September issues of your favorite fashion magazines, and you’ll notice that each has its own take on fall’s top trends: wide-leg pants, chic cardigans, etc. If you’re like me, you’ll probably notice this common thread: bow-front blouses.
They may not be targeted specifically as stars on the rise, but look out for them and you’ll find they go well with tons of predicted trends. Wear one paired with a cropped jacket and wide-legged trousers or with a thin, tailored pencil skirt. Accomplish ’40s glamour or power lunch posh, all while eliminating the need for showy jewelry.
I seem to remember my mom having something similar to this Sutton Studio Exclusive Buttonfront Blouse with Tie ($139 @ Bloomingdales) in the ’80s.
Obviously, what goes around comes around, but what do you think? Are bow-front blouses a too-fussy reminder of the decade of decadence, or are they poised to make a chic comeback? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section.
