Trend Alert: Flattering Flipsides
April 24, 2007
You’ve heard of matching your mani to your pedi, but have you ever thought to synch up your tips with your most fabulous shoes? Zoe Pocock, nail genius at Charles Worthington salon in London, must have been spending an obsessive amount of time in her Christian Louboutin pumps, because she had the brilliant idea to emulate the sexy shoes in a manicure.
The Louboutin Manicure features your color of choice on top, but flip your hands palms up for the stylish twist: a deep red cream polish on the underside of the nails, mimicking Louboutin’s signature red satin sole. For true Louboutin-esque luxury, try Chanel’s Le Vernis nail color in Black Satin($18) on top and Lippman Collection nail color in My Old Flame($15) for the sexy “sole†of your nails.
Nothing is out of bounds when it comes to new nail territory. You can lighten up the look up for spring by painting the tops of your nails with essie’s demure light pink, Real Simple, then add a brazen magenta like Bachelorette Bash (each $3) for a shock of color on the underside. The combinations are limitless, and pulling off this new nail style is worth putting up with double the drying time and twice the chipping potential.
Thanks to All Lacquered Up, the must-see blog for polish fanatics, for posting about this new trend.
